Summer is winding down, yet there is still plenty of time to splurge whether it’s food and drink, money or for an adventure before heading back to school for the fall semester.
Before all of the fall favorites of drink combinations commence, one of my personal favorites, include the Peach Apple Lemonade or the Sweet n’ Sour Summer Splash made with two of its Refresher flavors, Berry Hibiscus and Cool Lime.
It is blended like a Frappuccino and made with lemonade instead of water-perfect for your last beach days.
People tend to cautiously watch what they consume during the summer months to help stay in their best shape, but with the end of the summer creeping up on us, let’s splurge a little.
Summer is the best time to eat certain types of fruits and vegetables simply because they are in season and farm fresh. The seasonal summer fruits are apples, apricots, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupes, cherries, mangoes, limes, melons and figs.
The seasonal summer vegetables and herbs include sweet peppers, chiles, eggplant, cucumber, basil, cilantro and lemongrass. If you’re looking to watch your figure before going back to school, simply visit cookinglight.com, a website with a multitude of health-conscious recipes whether you’re looking for a recipe low in fat, carbohydrates, sodium or sugar.
Simply type in a certain fruit or vegetable in the search box or press the ‘Summer Cooking’ tab to see a range of easy, healthy, summer recipes for you.
Just because summer is almost over does not mean the summer adventures need to end just yet.
Take a trip to a nearby lake or beach. If you’re on the East Coast, there are a ton of relaxing spots to take a day trip, depending on where you live.
A few options are the Jersey Shore, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, the Rhode Island Coast, the Outer Banks or the coast of Florida.
If you do not know of many relaxing lakes or ocean spots by you, just go onto Google Maps and type in ‘Lake’ or ‘Ocean’ and it will pin point a ton of locations near you.
You have most likely slaved over a summer job or internship and could use a break, correct?
If you have saved all of the money you made this summer or if you have spent it along the way, take that final paycheck and spend it. That’s right, spend it, or at least some of it.
Buy that pair of over-priced Sperrys you so desire, or that fall jacket you’ve been dying to get. Treat yourself to the largest summer ice cream cone you can find or spend your money on the boardwalk at all of those games and crane-machines.
Take the risk; it’s the end of the summer so splurge away!
