College can be both a fun and scary place, especially senior year. While it can be exciting to start a new chapter in your life, it can also be intimidating entering the “real world”.
With the pressure to grow up and start a new life more people find it that much more important to find the right person to do these things with. While relationships can be great, people shouldn’t let them dominate their final year of college.
Here are a few reasons why it’s actually better to stay single your senior year.
You can have more time with friends.
When your schedule isn’t tied up with another person, you have more free time to be with your friends. And seeing that this is the last year you all will be together, you’ll be glad you had this extra time to hang out.
There will be plenty of time after college to schedule your plans with someone else. Enjoy this last year of freedom while you can.
You have less drama.
Let’s be honest, there’s already enough stress your senior year with applying for graduate school and jobs. While they can be rewarding and fun, relationships can also be pretty stressful.
Being single your senior year means one less thing to stress over. No worrying, no fights, no breakups, just fun your last year of college.
You have more freedom.
When you’re single, you don’t have to take into account a partner when making decisions. You’re free to make your own, whether it’s the freedom to flirt with other people, or simply the freedom to do what you want on your own time.
Your last year of college should be fun and exciting, and being single allows you the opportunity to be more carefree.
You can strengthen your career.
Without a partner you have more time to focus on your career and your plans after college. You also don’t have to feel limited when choosing where you want to live/work.
Most people in relationships choose to stay closer to their significant other, but being single gives you the opportunity to explore new horizons.
You can find yourself.
College plays a crucial role in a person’s life. It’s a time to have fun but it’s also a time a time of self-reflection. While being in a relationship can be great, it’s important to figure out who you are before committing to someone else.
If you’re still unsure about what you want to do with your life, use this last year to figure it out. You’ll be much happier in the long run with someone else, when you’re happy with yourself.
So if you’re one of those single people worrying about finding the right person, quit worrying. College is supposed to be four of the greatest years of your life.
Don’t let the last be entirely spent on finding the right person. Focus on yourself and have fun! In the future, looking back, you’ll be much happier you did.
