Halloween is almost here and I bet a few of you still have yet to pick out a great costume. In fact, in college, multiple costume ideas are often necessary for the multiple parties going on during the weekend. Especially this year when Halloween falls on Thursday, there’s a good chance that some of you crazy ragers out there will be going all out Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights!
Costumes can go in a few different directions. Here’s how to get it right with funny, original, or classic costume ideas. So without further ado, here are some ideas and advice to look great this Halloween, no matter which type of costume you pick!
Halloween is one of the most fun holidays around, so why not kick it up a notch with a funny costume that gets people laughing? The best way to do this is to keep it updated and current. Some of the funniest costumes you can do are pop culture figures.
2013’s funnier (though admittedly, potentially unoriginal) costumes might include a great Miley Cyrus VMA performance imitation, Ylvis or any character from their “The Fox” video. Politicians often make comical costumes also, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see some people taking a cue from Miley’s SNL video spoof and doing their own Michele Bachmann costume. Just remember that if you’re going with a funny costume, it needs to be instantly recognizable!
Original costumes and funny costumes are not mutually exclusive. Something slightly more obscure but still recognizable can be a great way to show your witty side this Halloween.
Think everyone is going to be dressing up as Miley? Why don’t you go dressed up as one of the less central but equally entertaining dancers from the “We Can’t Stop” video? All it takes is a giant stuffed bear backpack and leggings. It’s recognizable and hilarious but not the first thing everyone will be thinking of.
Ironically, classic costumes like a witch, black cat, bunny, etc. can be the best way to show off your personal style during Halloween. They tend to be minimal effort as they often just require a hat or headpiece of some sort, and then you can amp up your outfit any way you want.
You can be a super trendy witch by putting on your favorite black going-out outfit and just throwing on a hat. You can also step up these costumes by pumping up the sex appeal, which is in itself a classic tactic on Halloween for college girls. A word of advice though: Don’t take the sex appeal too far, or you’ll risk becoming a joke.
Of course, there are countless costumes you can go with, but no matter what costume you end up picking this Halloween, it’s sure to be a great time. The important part of the holiday is to make sure you have fun partying it up with your friends!
